Digicel LAUNCHES SAMOA CALLING CARD

August 14, 2007, Auckland, New Zealand: Digicel today launches its prepaid calling card service to the Samoan community in New Zealand. The Samoa Calling Card provides another alternative at competitive rates in comparison with other cards existing in the New Zealand calling card market. It has services and features to match and better current card offerings.

With the success in Samoa, Digicel has turned to bridge the communication gap even further with the latest addition to their products set and keep families and friends in both New Zealand and Samoa even more connected.

A feature of the Samoa Calling Card is that the charging of calls is done on a per-second basis after the first minute. Per-second billing has been a hit with Digicel subscribers in Samoa and this feature is made available for calling card users in New Zealand.

Other card offerings bill on a per minute basis. With the Samoa Calling Card, you pay for what you use.

Another great feature made available with the Samoa Calling Card is the ability to recharge an existing card account. This will allow customers who prefer to reuse the same card account number to recharge it by transferring credit from another Samoa Calling Card.

There is an optional feature for a personal four-digit security PIN number for card users who recharge their Samoa Calling card or activate their card for the first time.

Available also is the feature to make a follow-on call after a call or when you cannot connect to a number the first time.

24/7 customer support is available for any queries regarding the Samoa Calling Card product.

There is no connection fee when calling within New Zealand. A toll-free access number 08664DIGI (086643444) has been setup so that any Telecom NZ serviced landline, mobile or payphone can make calls to Samoa using the Samoa Calling Card.

The charges per minute to call Samoa are as low as 27c from a landline to a landline in Samoa. At 44c per minute, calling to family and friends on the Digicel network has never been better. It’s competitively priced ensuring that you get more talk time. Up to 50% more compared with other offerings.

“What the Digicel Samoa Calling Card offers to the New Zealand market and the Samoan community is not only another choice to keep in contact with family and friends back home, but also ensure our loyal Digicel subscribers in Samoa are easily contacted by family and friends here in New Zealand at affordable and competitive rates” said Digicel Country Manager, Pepe Christian Fruean.

“At Digicel we value our customers and pride ourselves on delivering world-class telecommunication services and solutions and excellent customer service. Through this calling card, we believe that what we offer is what is expected from us and that is what the Samoan people will get both here in New Zealand and Samoa. Digicel brings you better rates, better value and better service. Expect more to come in the future”

The launch ceremony was held in Auckland at the Pacific Business Trust on August 14 and  in Wellington at PIPC Newtown on August 15.
