Vanessa Slowey, Chief Executive Officer, Digicel Asia Pacific


Vanessa joined Digicel in 2003 and was appointed as the CEO for Digicel Asia Pacific in 2006. Vanessa successfully led the launch of Digicel Asia Pacific and currently holds responsibility for the overall management, performance and growth of operations for the region.  Prior to her appointment she held senior positions within the Digicel Caribbean operation.  Before joining Digicel, Vanessa worked for Eircell (now Vodafone) and Eircom in Ireland.  Vanessa received her education from Harvard Business School, the Irish Management Institution, the Dublin Institute of Technology and the University College Dublin. 
 

Frank O'Carroll, Vice President - Business Development, Digicel Asia Pacific, North Africa and Middle East
 
Frank joined Digicel as the Business Development Director in April 1999 and was Digicel’s first employee. In 2000, Frank secured the company’s first telecommunications license for Jamaica. During Frank’s time as Business Development Director for the Caribbean, the company secured telecommunications licenses in: Barbados; the Cayman Islands; Aruba; St Lucia; St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Grenada and Dominica. Prior to his time with Digicel and Denis O’Brien, Frank was Programme Manager for the Marketing Development Programme at the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business at University College Dublin.  Frank received his education from University College Dublin and holds a degree in Commerce (Banking & Finance) Marketing and Management.
 

John Mangos - Chief Operations Officer, Digicel Asia Pacific


John is responsible for operations in the six markets for Digicel Asia Pacific; his remit includes revenues, pricing, product development, data strategy, technology development and integration, internal systems and overall operational efficiency.  John is also Chief Executive Officer for Papua New Guinea, he joined the team in 2008 and has driven growth taking Digicel PNG to become the number one telecommunications operator in the country. Before this he was Chief Operating Officer for the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and was responsible for the business in St Lucia, St Vincent, Grenada, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados and Dominica. He also held the role of General Manager for the OECS in early 2005. 

In addition John has experience in senior roles with Eircom; the telecommunications fixed line operator in Ireland; and in a successful start-up wholesale and retail IP company in Australia. 

John hails from New Zealand but now resides in Papua New Guinea.


Geoff Weir, Chief Financial Officer, Digicel Asia Pacific


Geoff joined Digicel as the Chief Financial Officer for Digicel Asia Pacific in March 2011.  Geoff is responsible for the financial integrity of the Group and has significant commercial, strategic, acquisition and change management experience across a range of organisations, including start-ups, high growth and company turnarounds. Geoff received his education from Smurfitt College, University College Dublin where he received a BA with Honours in Business and Finance, together with a first class MBA. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.
 

David Dillon, General Counsel, Digicel Asia Pacific


David joined Digicel Asia Pacific in 2006 as General Counsel.  David is responsible for the Legal and Regulatory affairs across Asia Pacific from inception to completion.  Prior to joining Digicel, David headed up the Competition and Regulatory Practice of Eugene F. Collins. He also worked for the internationally acclaimed law firm, Gibson Dunn & Crucher L.L.P.  David received his education from University College Cork and holds a Bachelor of Civil Law.
 

Tony Hanley- Chief Technical Officer, Digicel Asia Pacific


Tony joined Digicel in December 2005, as Chief Technical Officer for Digicel in the Eastern Caribbean, a role covering the full spectrum of technical responsibilities; Network and IT for the GSM, CDMA, WCDMA and WiMAX networks on the islands of Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla and BVI.  Currently Tony head the Technology division for the Asia Pacific business and leads strategy, design and implementation of all technologies across the region.

Prior to Digicel, Tony was Chief Technical Officer to the Post & Telecoms of Kosovo (PTK J.S.C.), one of the largest providers of post and telecommunication services in Kosovo. He had overall responsibility for all technical aspects of PTK’s Mobile, Fixed and ISP networks. Tony also worked with Orange International, Sprint US and O2 UK. 

Tony hails from England and holds a BSc in Telecommunications.


Awais Malik, Chief Commercial Officer, Digicel Asia Pacific


Awais is responsible for commercial activities across the Asia Pacific region including diaspora markets, Australia and New Zealand. Awais holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Commerce and has an MBA with specialisation in Strategy and Marketing. He has held several senior leadership positions since the start of his career in 2001, including Head of Products and Value Added Services in Orascom and as Director Commercial Strategy and Marketing China Mobile in Pakistan. He served as Head of Consumers Services MTN in Africa, and Chief Commercial Officer Vimpelcom in South East Asia. In 2013, he was promoted to Group Chief Commercial Officer of Digicel Asia Pacific after having worked for one year in Digicel’s Caribbean operation in Haiti. With over 13 years of work experience in the Telecommunications Industry, Awais has supported companies through critical start-up and turnaround situations.
